Vintage 1960s ceramic owl planter made in Japan by Relpo. In very good shape overall, it just has one tiny chip on the bottom button and one tiny one on the backside top of the rim. Both are hardly visible. Marked "Japan" and "6023 Reply" on the bottom. Measures 7" high x 5" wide x 4" deep.
Product history: Relpo, short for the Reliable Glassware & Pottery Co., was the sales division of Samson Import Co., a Chicago importer. Samson was founded by Samuel Krivit in 1933, and Relpo was started by his son, Jerome. The Krivits, like other American importers, bought ceramics from Japan, including lady head vases and figurine planters.
